Champion for Teachers

The teacher turnover is too high, about 16% every year. In order to reduce the turnover of educators and retain them, we must pay higher salaries and better benefits. To that end, I propose to:

  • Institutionalize pay increase, enhance incentives, protect pension plans and increase employer contribution for the pension, and also enhance maternity benefits.
  • Based on the teacher’s experience in the district must increase their pay every other year.
  • Support a pro-teacher agenda.
  • Expand professional education opportunities for teachers.
  • Tenure Bonuses to keep our great teachers and to show our appreciation for staying with FISD.
  • Cost of living allowances and classroom stipend will be given to compensate housing and classroom expenses in Frisco.
  • Pay hike for the substitute teachers.
  • Good cost- effective health care plan benefit provided.
  • Support the Social Security benefits for the teachers.

In other words, take good care of teachers with the higher pay, attractive bonuses and a solid retirement plan.
